At the Greer Law Group, we are collecting information about what’s sometimes referred to as the “naughty chair” on RTD buses and light rail cars.
So what’s a “naughty chair?”
Here’s how we’ve heard it works: Someone is caught by RTD security for boarding a bus or a light rail train without a ticket. But instead of simply writing the person a ticket for violating the fare rules, RTD security takes them to a certain seat on the bus or rail car.
Then, according to what we’ve heard, a bargain is proposed – in exchange for certain “favors,” the RTD security guard will let the person go without a ticket.
Tell us More About the RTD “Naughty Chair”
If you have been put in a situation by an RTD security guard where they have offered to let you off the hook for boarding without a ticket, we want to know about it. Call us at 720-637-2467 or use our contact form to get in touch. If you know someone who has been through the “naughty chair” experience, have them contact us.
Needless to say, pressuring someone for favors of any type in exchange for agreeing not to write them a ticket is unacceptable. If you or someone you know has been put in that position, we may be able to help you recover compensation for the violation of your rights.
