No. In a recent video, Marlo Greer answers the question “Do I consider myself an ambulance chaser?” It’s the well-known phrase many people use for personal injury lawyers, and it’s obviously not a compliment.
As Marlo points out, “Of course I’m going to say no!” What matters more is why she says no, and why most personal injury lawyers aren’t the ambulance chasers people picture.
From Marlo’s perspective, the reason she is a personal injury attorney is to help people. She believes this is also true for many billboard-advertised personal injury lawyers across your city. It’s even more the case with a smaller firm like Greer Law Group. As Marlo says, “We are really there to help because what we care about most is you. What we want is to help you get better, and what we want is to help you get the recovery you deserve for what you lost.”
Why Marlo Became a Personal Injury Lawyer
Marlo chose personal injury law because she really wanted to use her law degree to help an “actual person, and not some corporation.” From her perspective, “to be able to do one thing or multiple things for an actual person that might be able to change their lives, or even just make that day better for them, that’s why personal injury attorneys do what they do.”
And yes, personal injury attorneys make money when their clients recover compensation. Marlo points out that “It’s more about the money that our clients will receive as compensation for what they lost.”
Compensation for an injury caused by someone else’s negligent or intentional acts isn’t a lottery win. As Marlo puts it, “If you’ve been injured and you’re in pain and you’ve had things taken away from you and you can’t live your life in the normal way for even a freakin’ day . . . that you’ve had that taken away from you . . . that is not winning the lottery or cashing out. That is giving back to you something you’ve lost. If I could give you back your health, I’d rather do that.”
That’s not how our system works, though. “Our system works so that what I can do is get you money to compensate you when somebody hurts you.”
